Bupa Care Services has led the way to attract fresh nursing graduates to become the future leaders of aged care in Australia.
Last November, Bupa Care was delighted by the response from nursing professionals to the launch of their Graduate Nurse Program, receiving over 250 high calibre applications from those seeking a springboard into the renowned international healthcare company.
With 20 full time Registered Nurse places filled at the beginning of the year, the newly created program forms part of an innovative approach by the leading aged care provider to attract and retain quality nurses and combat the well publicised shortage within the sector.
Graduates are well supported through a combination of structured and informed training, but the core advantage is defined by the priceless information that has been passed on through the graduate mentor program.
Bupa has committed to a new graduate campaign in 2011, providing more opportunities for nursing graduates.
Monica, one of Bupa’s 2010 graduate nurses, said, “It’s such a thorough and supportive program, which has greatly enhanced my skills in aged care.”
Bupa Care employs approximately 950 Registered Nurses across Australia and also has aged care businesses in New Zealand, UK and Spain.
“Bupa Care’s size means we are able to offer our nurses genuine career pathways” says Maryann Curry, Bupa Care Group Director of Nursing, “Having this advantage coupled with a rapidly expanding aged care industry means that really exciting opportunities are being created.
Bupa Regional Director, Ian Burge has made one promise which has seen to be the outcome of the 2010 program. “We expect our graduate nurses will be competent and confident to lead a team in the delivery of high quality person centred care by the end of the first 12 months and the possibilities from there are limitless.”
Applications for Bupa Care’s 2011 Graduate Nurse Program intake open now, and close in August 2010. Please contact HR Services Manager Angy Dinevska on 02 8247 3069 for further information, or send your resume to gnp@bupacare.com.au.
